Crores of fans in Pakistan were bewildered and surprised at his new decision of the Legendary Cricketer and one of the best and successful Captain of the world Imran Khan unexpectedly entered into politics by forming a new party named Tahreek-e-Insaf in Lahore on 25th April, in 1996. Actually a question arose in the minds of his enumerable fans whether the astounded success Imran Khan had earned in his student life and cricket career would come true. 

There were sufficient reasonable causes that had arose such questions in the minds of his fans. The prime cause behind it was that politics in Pakistan was always critical and never was in full stability. There existed conflict and rivalry, confusion and uncertainty and finally the Army’s control and interference were regular features in Pak politics. In such an adverse situation, it was a big and hard challenge for Imran Khan to make a place and gain success in Pakistan politics by forming a new Party.
At the beginning, Imran had no powerful Organization to face the hard challenge. But as an indomitable charismatic personality Imran Khan is now going to be adorned with the crown of highest success in politics as like as cricket arena after his long 22 year attempt conquering hearts of millions of Pakistani citizens by uncommon personality, leadership and vision. Now he is on the way to form a Government as his party Tahreek-e-Insaf got highest seats in recently held national elections.
It is very much certain that Imran Khan is going to be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. Rest remains only formalities. Greatest achievement and gain in politics and in elections this time is that he was able to exclusively attract educated younger generations to his side. This educated younger generation in Pakistan, awaiting for a change, was much attracted and motivated by Imran Khan’s memorable achievements as a student in the University of Oxford, by the outstanding leadership for lifting Pakistani cricket to its peak and for his visionary commitments to change. This educated young generation along with Imran Khan’s outstanding personality and unparalleled qualities of leadership played a splendid role for Khan to the throne of power defeating two popular and powerful parties in Pakistan politics namely Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). From the best and successful captain this great hero of the cricket world is now on a sky height.
Leadership qualities in any field are much important for a man to achieve success in life. In this respect Imran Khan is always on a unique position. He has become always successful in his leadership. He was the captain of Pakistan cricket team for 10 years from 1982 to 1992. It was for his uncommon leadership as a captain of Pakistan Cricket Team that brought for the first time a pride for the country’s cricket team to become World Champion in 1992. it was time and again uttered by two other legendary cricketer Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram in several meetings. Imran Khan’s skyscraper popularity as a successful cricketer spread throughout the cricket world beyond Pakistan. As an unparalleled hero he was equally popular even in India, the arch rival of Pakistan, for his skillfulness in cricket, unique personalities and beautiful outlook. Imran Khan was a popular accepotable personality in British society, because he studied in London and resided there. Considering all these, Imran Khan has no match in the yardstick of qualities and capabilities. His other achievement is long term friendly personal relations with many world famous and influential personalities including important royal members of various kingdoms.
As Imran Khan comes out victorious, millions of his fans, along with the younger generation in Pakistan, were very much happy and cheerful. Meanwhile they showed support and love by bringing out spontaneous rally in the streets. Star athletes sports personalities also came out heartily in support of Imran Khan. Cricket legends Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram and Shahid Afridi had already congratulated Imran for his victory and express firm hope that the country would be changed under his leadership. The expression of support and cooperation to Imran from popular and world-famous cricket stars like Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram and Shahid Afridi would greatly influence popular support indeed.
Not only in Pakistan, but also in world sports and political arena, one of much talked issues at present is Imran Khan’s victory in the general elections his possibility of becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan. And here the only cause, behind the much talked about matter, is the man- the legendary Imran Khan. Even at this victory of Imran Khan, when some Indian media were very much critical about the entente between Imran Khan and the Pakistan Army, the Indian cricket legend and captain of the World Cup Champion Team Kapil Dev came into the discussion to a great extent by congratulating Imran Khan at his victory in the elections.
Imran Khan’s other envious qualities and skills are to directly and clearly reply boldly in an exceptional style. Imran Khan has earned these experiences throughout his long cricket career by facing the best media of the whole world. When Imran was giving an exclusive interview with the influential English Daily New York Times after the recently held elections, New York Times’ Journalist raise a question to him, `there were allegations against you that the main role behind your victory in this elections was played by Pakistan Army and you have long worked as an accomplice to the Pak Army. What is your clear statement in this regard? In directly replying to the harsh question of the western Journalist Imran Khan habitually said, Pakistan Army is my country’s Army and they have not come from foreign land. Pakistan Army is an important part of the country. Where is the fault if our Army support to and cooperate with someone for the interest of the country and for the welfare of the people? Actually a certain quarter is engaged in hatching conspiracies in various ways for destroying the image of the Pakistan Army, though they know it better that there will come no benefit from it. After hearing such strong and befitting answer of the harsh question from Imran Khan, no other question came from the Journalist. Besides till now no other powerful media the USA and western countries criticize Imran Khan bitterly, rather they have express firm hope regarding the new leadership.
Imran’s victory is imparting vast positive effect on Pakistan’s economy. Monetary exchange rate has already increased by 6 per cent against US dollar. Side by side the Share Market is also showing upward trend. China, one of the best friend of Pakistan has come forwarded with financial help before the oath taking ceremony of Imran Khan. China has already announced two billion US dollar loan to Pakistan, that will help a lot to the new government leaded by Imran.
Imran’s fans in Bangladesh are very happy for his victory in elections. It’s now an important matter of discussion in the political and sports arena in Bangladesh. It is the expectation of Sports lover fans of Imran in Bangladesh that he would be successful in politics as like as he was in cricket.
Here I proudly mention a memorable memento of 1986 with Imran Khan. At that time, the cricket team of Pakistan leaded by Imran Khan was one of the best cricket team in the world. There were world famous cricket stars in the team like Sarfaraj Nawaz, Javed Miandad, Abdul Qadir, Wasim Bari, Mudassar Nazar, Wasim Raja, Salim Malik, Shoaib Muhammad, Ramiz Raja, Wasim Akram, Sikandar Bakht, Manzur Elahi etc. with Imran. In the honor of one of the world’s cricket commentator Omar Qureshi of Pakistan, a cricket team from Pakistan came to Dhaka leaded by Imran khan. Omar Qureshi was also manager of the team. As a college student, I was then working as apprentice sports journalist in the fortnightly Tarakalok magazine. I also got accreditation card for covering Bangladesh-Pakistan cricket match. Sitting in the VIP gallery I saw in my own eyes the world famous cricket stars of Pakistan just sitting next to them. I could not trust my own eye. It was a three day game. In the side line of first day game, I was introduced with assistant manager of the Pakistan team Siddique Ahmed and informed him my wish for an interview of Imran Khan. He told me to contact him in the hotel (Sonargaon) next day after the game. According to his suggestion, I was waiting for a long time in the hotel lobby next day from the evening. At last he took me to the room of Imran Khan. Khan gave me 15 minutes time for his interview. That interview was published in the next issue of the fortnight Tarakalok as Cover Story with picture of my interview. That interview of Imran Khan is still a best achievement and memorable occasion of my long Journalistic life.
Reaction of Qazi Salahuddin
I wanted to know reaction of most popular sports personality, legendary footballer, cricketer and now president of Bangladesh Football Federation Quazi Salauddin about the victory of Imran Khan in the national elections of Pakistan. After highly appreciating Imran Khan in his reaction Salauddin told the Daily Inqilab that he firmly believe that Imran will be successful in politics as like as cricket. He has vast experiences in many fields in his life. Biggest advantage of his life is he is an Oxford graduate which is a unique qualification in life of a man. Beside this, he watched the world very closely through playing cricket at the highest level in the world. So it will be easy for his experiences to justify good and evil. Moreover, Imran Khan has an extraordinary leadership quality. He was not only a cricket Superstar, but he is also a great visionary personality. Persons like Imran took birth once in hundred years. Personally I have a friendly relation with Imran Khan. I met him more than once at his London residence in various occasions. I strongly believe, if Imran Khan can independently lead Pakistan with his complete thinking , Pakistan would be able to go far. But if he wants to make happy everybody by accepting other’s advice, it could make trouble for him. As far as I know Imran , it is unlikely that he will be conflicting with his personality by doing such type of mistakes. I wish him success in politics.
